Edward swam up slowly from sleep. It was nearly impossible to open his eyes for how warm and protected he felt. He nuzzled into the thick fur around him, searching for its warmth. The fur shifted and then he heard the heartbeat against his ear. He flipped his eyes open, took in the huge wolf he lay curled against.
Edward jerked away from him with a sketch, but Adam simply yawned and stretched on the fur blankets. Adam laid his massive head down between his paws, dark gray eyes calmly watching him.
Edward’s heart thrummed. His mind screamed at him to turn and run. But…though Adam had started him, some deeper instinct told him he means him no harm. This was Adam…. His captor. The insane man who thought he was his mate. This terrifying shape-shifter. But he would not harm him. At least. Not today it seemed.
He studied the wolf. He was more broad than a natural wolf, more muscled, the size of a bear. As he stretched relaxed on the blankets Edward saw he had an almost feline-grace to his limbs as well. He was rather lovely, when he wasn’t panic-inducing.
“I have to empty my bladder. I’m NOT trying to escape,” Edward said then turned from the camp. He moved only a few yards away and found a bush to hide behind. Did Adam really believe he would turn into a creativity like that tonight? It was impossible. Impossible in its insanity.
And yet…he remembered his mother’s face. Her round kind face with its dark blue eyes. His father, the king, similarly short and good natured. His brother, cut from the same clothes as his kind parents. And then there was him and his sister. Those odd kids running around the castle that stood inches taller than the rest of their family. That had strange bronze hair when everyone he knew had dark brown or black hair. He’d always known they was different. He just hadn’t understand why. His heart ached. All these years his parents never told them the truth, why had they kept it from them?
Edward returned tothe camp, found Adam back in his–nearly as–imposing human form. Adam caught his eye as he returned and smiled.
“I’m almost sad you didn’t run.”
“Why did my real father just abandon us? What happened to my …… real mother?” he asked, in no mood for small talk.
Adam sobered, nodding as if he knew these questions must come.
“I don’t know about your mother, but your father…Andrew…” he swallowed, as if debating what to say. “Well, our kind we don’t often mingle with humans. I imagine your mother was just a passing impulse. Andrew though was very solidary, he never kept a pack for very long. So when he found me after he’d been attacked by…others he was already near death. All I know is his last thought was of you and your sister. And like I said I owed him a debt so me and my brother have been away from my pack for years now trying to find the two you.”
Edward shook his head. It wasn’t good enough.
“What if you’re wrong? What if I don’t turn into…a…. A wolf tonight?” he asked.
He croouched in front of the fire, but let his eyes slide up and down Edward’s body. He shivered at the hunger in Adam’s eyes. “It’s Shifters. And I’m not wrong.”
Edward moved back to the furs, he still wore only Adam’s large shirt and the chill of the morning air left him shivering and covered in goosebumps.
Adam stoked the fire, glanced back to him. “I’ll find you some better clothes today. I’ll be gone a few hours. You can try to run again if you’d like, but now that I’ve got your scent, I’ll find you,” he grinned at Edward and he saw the excitement plain on his face.
“How far ARE we from my castle?” he asked.
“Several hours on two feet. Less on four,” Adam again smiled knownly. But Then his face turned serious. “You don’t want to go in that direction. When the change takes you tonight you’ll be…dangerous to humans.”
Edward shuddered, his cool gray eyes watched him, and he felt suddenly naked again.
“I still don’t think I believe you.”
He shrugged, suddenly rose from the fire and brought him a mug of tea. “Your belief isn’t required. Drink that, it will warm you a bit while I’m gone. There are a few bags of dried food when you’re hungry. I’d just relax today, stay warm by the fire. You’ll need your energy for tonight.”
Edward gritted his teeth, looked up to him as he held the warm mug to his chest. “Are you going to fuck me…. in …?”
Adam blinked, croouched down in front of Edward again. He reached that giant hand of his to Edward’s cheese and this time he didn’t flinch away, knowing it might only provoke him. “It’s not like that Edward. It won’t be how you’re imagining.” He swallowed as Adam’s rough fingers tenderly caresed his face. And he nearly believed him. His body did at least. The feel of Adam’s long warm fingers against his skin sent a ripple down his spine, awakened the dull ache between his legs. Edward squirmed, pressing his thighs together, tryingto push away the confusing rush Adam elicited in him.
And he knew, of course he did. Adam smiled at him as he squirmed and brought his hand to the back of his head. Gently he pulled Edward’s face to his and planted the most tender of kisses to his lips. The feel of his surprisingly soft lips sparked the fire in him and before he knew it he was returning the kiss. Leaning into him, parting for him. His tongue darted into his mouth and he was reminded of the delicious things he could do with that tongue. A moan escaped his lips and he pressed more urgently into him. His mouth consumed Edward’s, his tongue insisted and demanding.
With a gasp Edward pulled away and stood.
“I should be going,” Adam rasped out. He pulled his shirt off, quickly stepped out of his breeches.
The blood rushed to his face as a Suddenly naked Adam stood in front of him. Unable to stop himself he slide his eyes to Adam’s heavy cock and a shiver of dread and anticipation ran through him. HeSuddenly felt the hard throbbing heat between his own legs. Blinking he looked back up to meet his intense eyes. They were nearly black with lust and he felt the air between them still as they eyed each other.
He grinned and then his body rippled. The black hair sprouted with abandon across his muscled skin. He fell forward with a snarl as the wolf leaf up within him. Within only seconds the monstrous black wolf crouched in front of him. With a low growl he turned and fled into the woods.
He was alone. Achingly alone.

Adam ran through the trees on his way back to Edward. He was cutting it closer than he’d like but he’d had a hard time finding just the right clothes for Edward. If he were in his human form he’d laugh at himself. At what his Edward had done to him. Adam, Prince of the shifters creeping through villages and castles searching for the perfect shirt and a pair of blue jeans for his lover.
His mind wandered as he ran, imagining how the nightwould go. Wondering what Edward’s wolf form would look like. He imagined his coat would match his long grogeous bronze locks.
He sensed the others too late. A silver tipped arrow struck him in his hind leg and he howled in rage as he stumbled, immediately casting around for his attackers. He cursed his distracted mind as he grabbed at the arrow with his teeth, ripped it from his flesh.
There were four and he heard the second arrow and danced quickly out of the way just before it struck him. The vampires slipped from the shadows, circled him. He grewled as he studied their movements. How long had they been tracking him? His mind raced. Edward. Was he safe? Had they followed his trail to him? Fear and hot anger warred within him.
With a howl he leaves at the most dangerous looking one, knocking the vampire to the ground and ripping his throat out with a spray of blood. A sword slashed across his shoulder and he twisted, springing from the fallen vampire and away from theOther three. Another arrow flew and pierced his leg again. He ran and the three silent vampires dashed after him. He hoped to lose them and then circle back around and pick them off one by one.
Stupid! He was so stupid for running into this ambush. He narrowly diddged another arrow and continued to run, away from camp, away from Edward. It was his only thought, he must draw them away.
~~
Edward watched the sun sink below the trees. Something was wrong. He sensed it, deep in that primary part of him self.
Adam should have been back by now. Not that he was hoping for his insane captor to return… But he should have been back. He was alone in this strange forest and something wasn’t right. Worry coursed through him. He didn’t believe Adam, couldn’t believe him. But the moon was beginning to peak above the horizon and he suddenly felt it in his bones.
Perhaps he was going mad? It was the only explanation for the strange feeling that rose within his belly. Forthe craving that arose in his throat.
A surge of heat erupted within his chest, coursed outwards, into his spine, into every bone, into every pore. He screamed and fell backwards on his blankets. The fire rose in him. He was dying. Adam was wrong. He wasn’t changing into a monster tonight. He was simply dying.
The old ripped through him and he convulsed, thrashed on the ground as his every bone broke, lengthened, reformed. Another howl rose within him as he flipped onto his stomach, panting and sweating with the blistering pain. He tried to dig his hands into the soft furs, tried to ground himself but the sight of fur only sent his mind reeling away.
Finally the wolf burst free from Edward and he leaves, snarling and panting from his human body. The real him. Who he was meant to be. Anger rippled through him. Adam. He’d promised to be here. He shouldn’t have had suffered alone.
Edward found Adam’s scent, distracted for only a moment by the heat it sent through him. He sprang from the camp, following the bright trail he’d left. His mind could only focus on one thing, finding Adam, voicing his displeasure with his mate.
His mate … had he really just called himself Adam’s mate… he smiled and ran faster he had to find Adam.
~~
Adam struggled to rise. He’d killed the third vampire but now the last stalked him. A quick female that watched him with those bloodless blue eyes. He thought he could still take her with him. He was likely dying, with the five silver arrows that burrowed into him he couldn’t heal. His blood, his precious blood leaked from a dozen wounds. He snarled, low in his throat as he watched the vicious creativity circle him. She was toying with him now. Perhaps she’d make a mistake?
“Prince of shifters. How Disappointing,” she whispered as she circled him.
He grew as he watched her. His mind far away, on Edward. He could almost still smell him…
He and the vampire both frozen as the scream ofrage reverberated through the trees. And then Edward was on the vampiress. A snarling and snapping demon leaves from the trees. The vampire tried to turn, drop out of the way but the he-wolf matched her move for move.
Knocking the smaller vampire to the ground the wolf savaged her, snapping at her throat, her face, her arms as she weakly tried to fight her attacker off. It was over in only a moment and the vampire lay bloodied and dead under the still growing wolf.
Adam collapsed, lay panting on his side as he watched Edward turn to him. Through the haze of pain his heart hummed. He was magnificent. More beautiful than he could have imagined. Edward’s thick bronze hair became a shining, glossy coat. The color shifted as he moved, shadows in a forest. He was strong, larger than most other shifters besides himself. He’d have right. This was a new prince among shifters. His prince. His mate.
Edward padded up to him. Nuzzled at his neck. Noticed the arrows. With a low growl Edward grabbed the first between his teeth. Pulled it out. He jerked at the sering pain, but was too weak to do anything else. Edward grabbed at another, and then another and slowly pulled all the arrows from him.
He felt the instant relief as his body was finally freed. His blood coursed within him, rose high and fast as it raced to his wounds to heal him. Edward lay down at his back, while softly as he nuzzled into him, licking at the slowly healing slashes and arrow holes. Adam panted, still exhausted but comfortable by his closeness.
They lay for nearly an hour as his wounds knitted, Edward curling into him, offering what strength he could. Eventually he felt the healing was complete. Felt his newly healed muscles flex and shiver with energy. Edward sensed the change in him, sensed his strength had returned.
A growl rose, low and independent in his throat. Edward rose, lowered his head as he eyed Adam. Adam met his eye, stood slowly as well. He wanted to grin, seeing how well matched they were. Edward’s eyes, now a darker, more primary green watched him, his head low as his lips curled back. He was taunting him.
With a sharp snarl Adam leaves at him but he was already gone, turning like the breeze and disappearing into the trees. Adam howled, joy nearly bursting his chest as he set off after Edward. He had only his smell to chase. He was fast and silent as he darted through the trees. Adam thundered after Edward, catching only a glimpse of him shadowed coat as he evaded him.
He didn’t know how long they ran. Well into the night. The moon sat high in the sky before Edward made a mistake, ran down a shallow gully into a dead end. He skidded to a stop, whipped around and found Adam in front of him. He croouched, letting a growl rumble deep within his throat.
Adam lunged at him. Though he tried to dance away from him on those quick feet he was too strong. Adam knocked him stumbling back. Grabbed at the back of Edward’s neck with his teeth. Edward immediately dropped down under him. Letting Adam mount him from behind. He whimpered as he angled his hips up for Adam, offered himself to him.
Still holding Edward down with his teeth on his neck he entered him. Thrust savagely into Edward as he whined underneath him. Edward twitched, and scrapbled at the ground but gladly shoved his backside into him. Inviting … begging him deeper.
He began to thrust, lost all sense of anything except for the feel of Edward beneath him. Edward all around him. Adam pounded into him, ramming him into the ground. Taking him in all the ways he’d promised and he eagerly invited him. Edward’s low, guttural growls turned to sharp whiles as Adam dominated him. He climaxed with a howl, felt his scorching seed flood Edward. He clenched around him, drew every last drop from Adam as he matched his howl.
When Adam collapsed back, freeing Edward finally from underneath him, he started him with a sharp bark. He snapped at his muzzle then turned, fleeing again into the trees. Adam panted, stared after him in surprise then sped gleefully after him again.
~~
The sun teased Edward’s eyes open. Soft and warm he yawned, feeling lazy and comfortable. Edward lay on top of Adam. He was on his back on the forest floor, holding Edward to his bare–human-chest. He felt a moment of confusion, but then the night came crashing back to him. Edward remembered every second of it and the memory sent a jolt through him. He tipped Edward’s face up to his, found him still sleep.
Edward shifted slightly, taking stock of their situation. Their legs were intertwined. He gripped at Adam’s massive chest, fingers curling in the dark hair. His cock, bulging and hot lay against his thigh. As Edward registered it a flush of heat swept through him, and his groin clenched. He studied Adam’s sleeping face. The broad, sharp jaw. The long sloping nose. He felt a twininge, sad he couldn’t see the lovely gray of his eyes. Edward stretched his chin up, let his lips brush Adam’s.
Adam’s eyes snapped open instantly and found his waiting. Adam slightly tightened his arms around Edward’s wait, let a slow smile cross his lips. “There is,” he said softly.
Edward held his gaze, searched within his eyes for the wolf within. “Is that who I really am?” he asked.
Adam’s grin grow wider and he shifted underneath him, subtly moving his cock towards his center. “No one shape can contain us,” he said huskily.
He lifted his head, kissed Edward deeply. Almost chastely. No intruding tongue. No taking possession. Just a sensitive, soul shattering kiss.
“Thank you,” Edward whispered into his lips.
His kissed turned harsher. More insist. “Would you like me to fuck you know?” Adam asked and shifted him above him, sliding Edward over the head of his cock. He felt its swollen heat. The tiny drop of moisture at the tip like lava against the folds of his sex. The ache within him was like a knife, sharp and desperate.
“Will it be like last night?” Edward murmured.
“Only if you want it to be,” Adam’s voice was so low it rumbled against his bones. Seemed to stroke right against his center.
“I want to see your eyes while you fuck me,” Edward said, taking Adam’s head between his hands.
He sucked in a sharp breath and he felt the jerk of his excited length. It snapped against Edward’s center and he melted, pulled his face to his in a kiss as the need ripped through them. Adam’s hands found his round butt. He moved his slowly against him, grinding the length of Adam cock against his tight needing ass. As the delicate head pressed against his swollen little nub he shuddered and tilted his hips into him, needing more pressure. More Everything.
Gently, severely Adam guided Edward along the length of him, teasing him, setting his skin ablaze. Edward arched into him, tried to guide Adam into him but he resisted, chuckling lightly as he angled his cock away, back against Edward’s throbbing cock, down the length of is shake, back up. Edward grew, grabbed at his shoulders to try to leverage himself.
Adam moved his mouth to Edward’s neck, bit softly as he tightened his grip on his ass. Then he rolled, twisting and positioning himself on top of Edward with his back now on the floor of the forest. All the while Adam held his gaze, grinned wickedly.
The head of Adam’s cock pressed at his entrance and he was suddenly anxious. Edward could look down now, see Adam poised over him and he thought again he might rip him in half. Glancing back up to his eyes his heart thrummed. Adam looked at him with more than lust. More than hunger. The was a deep sense of belonging he found in those gray eyes.
“My mate….. My Prince… My Edward,” he grew, slowly lowering himself into him. As the head of his cock moved past his opening he gasped, amazed at how he could stretch for him. The tightness of his body was stubborn, but he waspatient, unrelenting as he sunk deeper, and deeper still into him.
The disappoint, the sharp pain of protest eased as Edward focused only on the feel of Adam moving in him, on the way his eyes watched him so carefully. As Adam finally bottomed out within him and he felt the coarse feel of Adam’s groin against his own. Edward sent in satisfaction. His mouth fell onto him then and he closed his eyes.
Adam ground against him for several long moments, adjusting his ass to his thick shake, teasing his impatient cock. Then slowly he began to ease back out, with every inch Edward felt the loss, tried to follow him with his hips. Edward let out a low whine as Adam retired and he laughed as he pulled from him until only the thick head still sat within his.
Adam positioned one arm for support beside his head, the other he gripped Edward’s wait, his demanding fingers digging into him. Then he thrust back into him in one smooth motion. Edward gasped, his body bucking up intothe feel of his full length inside him again. Adam retired quickly, then slammed back into him. Edward flung his arms to his back, dug his nails into him. As Adam began to thrust faster into him he clung to him, his own desperation rising. Edward rocked his hips against Adam, trying to match his rhythm, desperate for the feeling of him pounding into his very core.
